Linux Does have Games!!!

Place to discuss anything, almost. No politics, religion, Microsoft, or anything else that I (the nazi censor) deem inappropriate.

So, i've tried RTCW:ET and it was nice, like the beta but just a bit more rounded and obviously the maps.

This evening I tried Americas Army (no I dont have a life - well, at the moment, my nightlife is on hold to work)
I used the Gentoo LiveCD, well it looked pretty but at the end of the day when I came to play the game it hung with a black screen, CD spinning like a banshee and it wouldnt let me CTRL+ALT+F1/BKSP. So powered down.
Next I had the idea to copy the game files to my hd, so booted the CD again and I copied them to one of my partitions (it's the /opt/armyops170 dir if you care). Boting back into my Linux on HDD I played the game (armyops-bin) and it worked flawlessly.
The problem was.....
I hated it, it was full of propaganda (which i was, admittedly, expecting), gameplay seemed clumbsy and their attemps at realism had gone awry. I really, really did no enjoy the feel of the gqame. The eyecany was nice though even on my now depreciated :o Geforce2MX.
I would advise people tried it as, I dunno if maybe you can turn a blind eye to the sickening propaganda if America is your nation, you might enjoy the gameplay - personnaly I didn't. It is a nice example of what Linux can do as agaming platform and will hopefully send out good signals. I think I will but my gamefiles on BitTorrent or something to save other users the trouble of using that Gentoo crappy thing.

I am quite tired at the moment due to sleep deprivation so I give a blanket apology for any lack of spelling, grammar or cohesion :)
