Yes you most certainly have. What you missed was how Mike Oldfield changed from a vaguely interesting musical tangent (primarily noted for the fact that he effectively 'made' Richard Branson) into 'God'. I too seem to have missed this little gem.

Personally I think his music sucks only when it is not boring me to tears. The remix version of Tubular Bells was worse than the original, and I for one thought that would be a hard thing to beat. In a knock out contest, though, he beats Jean Micheal Jarre hands down. At least he lets the music speak for itself intead of disguising it behind elaborate shows.

So X11 which limbs should I loose?

interestingly i think the various tubular bellss and their various b sides and outtakes (oh yes, and that christmas tune too) are mike oldfield's onlyinteresting music. although he does beat jean michel jarreright enough (although i do have oxygene, and it's ok apart from having that embarrasingly upper class photo of the man on the back cover (now i think of it, my copies of oxygene and tubular bells are both originals, and both cost fifty pence out of charity shops)).

Mike oldfield did have this fantastic idea for a computer game though, which i think has been brought out (for windows probably), his idea was to have a huge virtual world where things would happen, but instead of having to kill things or be killed, you just be, and do things, and you can sit down for as long as you like and watch the changing sunset etc, without being mauled by anything...

Tubular Bells II was a good improvment or alteration of Tubular Bells, but Tubular Bells III was almost the same as II in everyway and sucked. Crises, Ommadawn, Plantium, stuff like that by him are really good. Even just more simple songs like Shadow on the Wall really rock.
