First Microsoft was offering bounties, err... rewards for info on virus writers, now SCO is at it, but with a vengence.

http://ir.sco.com/ReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=127545

If I remember correctly, MS was only offering $25,000, but SCO has upped it to $250,000! Seems like Microsofts bounties... oops, I mean rewards, have been so successful in stopping exploits of their OS that SCO has followed suit. There haven't been any viruses, worms, trojans or other exploits for Microsoft software around since they started their bounty... reward program. Or have there?

One bunch of idiots with nothing to offer in the way of decent software following the other bunch of the same type of idiots.

Can Microsoft's fall be too far behind SCO's? How come Red Hat isn't offering rewards like this. Oh, never mind, I just remembered that they produce quality software and don't have to hire bounty hunters. Silly me.

Actually I believe the M$ bounty is also $250,000. Coincidence? I think not:

i remember when i first heard about this, microsoft were saying they wanted to know who was responsible for thousands of compromised systems which had been downed by some windows only virus (or worm maybe) (can't remember which one, not nimda, some later one).

anyway, i still think i should get the money for pointing out that microsoft are responsible, and they have proved it, since very few other systems can be compromised in this way, it leads me to believe that the makers of the software are to blame for making it compromisable.

I totally agree with you Calum. If you get the cash will you buy me a beer? :)
