Yeah, my wife calls me "freak" all the time when I bash Microsoft

I can understand your happyness, apparently for you (as for me) the word "freak" doesn't necessarily have a negative connotation.
However for many people it does, and therefor I find it sad that people would call you a "freak" only because you made a remark on Windows :?
That gives an indication on how f*cked up the current mentality of the masses really is.
If you don't follow them to the tcpa/drm/palladium slaughterhouses you're a freak?

Even if inside of me I kinda like it when my friends call me a freak, I answer that I'm a freedom adept and Linux simply is a way to express my freedom.

if their computer's fscked and it runs windows, then there's nothing more to say. if they haven't changed their software then they might feel stupid or embarrased because they think they are too dumb to know how, and so they resort to insults.

pretty sad.

i had a holier than thou flatmate who was a bit like that. he told me he had installed linux but couldn't get it to work. a few weeks later he told me "oh that was a lie, i could get it to work but i just didn't like it". he also said he thought there were a lot better things to be concerned about than software in the world.

sure there are, but you do what you can. needless to say i was working for a university at the time, he was a chemical engineer for shell. 'nuff said.
