Is it perfectly fine to run a 32bit linux on x86_64 architecture??... I'm running a linux workshop where i want to go through installing gentoo/fedora... but ive already burned the cds... which are just x86 and my laptop is AMD64.
I'm not planning on using the OS after installing (well not after the workshop anyway) so im not worried about the performance issues.

32bit versions of distros will work just fine on an AMD64, in fact better in many ways (won't run in to dependency issues).
