That one would get a random segfault in gcc (sparc64/linux-grsec) in a kernel compile, but it works fine the next time?

Seemed kinda bizarre.

I have seen that happen if there was a bad memory chip. Since you are talking Sparc here though you should have ECC memory. Do you know if that is the case?
