FC5 upgrade splash screen thing

Postby Master of Reality » Fri May 05, 2006 8:41 am

After doing a full upgrade of FC5, the splash screen thing that comes up while fedora loads (you know, that blue screen that says loading), well it hangs at a blank screen until i hit crtl-alt-backspace to kill the splash and then it continues loading.

Is there a way to turn the splash screen off (or if you know a fix that would be cool too)?

That is the graphical boot trying to load. You can turn that off by taking the "rhgb" out of the kernel command line in /etc/grub.conf. X works alright other than that? I have run into that and I have fixed it in the past but I can't remember what I did exactly. It was either something to do with the /etc/X11/xorg.conf or it was a framebuffer issue on the kernel command line. I think it was an xorg.conf issue. You might check in the X logs in /var/log and see if you can find anything there.
