Local Proxy thing

Hi there.

Is there such thing as a personal proxy server?

I just want something like for content filtering for my own machine, on my own machine. Is this possible to do with squid? or is that for a dedicated computer for other to connect to?

Shed me some light?

You can certainly do it with Squid and I have done this on my laptop before. There are lighter weight proxy servers out there but I only have experience with Squid.
