gives me error of KDEInit could not launch '/usr/java/jre1.5.0_09/bin/javaws'.

the javaws i need to us is in /usr/java/jre1.5.0_11/javaws

in the kcontrol center under lde components > file permissions. Look for that filetype and see what KDE has as a default to open it. Im guessing that it will have the old path to javaws.

hmm i know KDE likes to push me around with those sometimes. I would forever be trying to change the default player from totem to mplayer or kaffiene or something..

You could always make a symbolic link.... pretty much the software equivalent of brute force and ignorance.
