Error on Thunderbird, IMAP and my ISP's SMTP

Postby Basher52 » Thu Jun 28, 2007 11:56 am

I got got a new ISP and this one has IMAP, so I figured why not use that.
After I set it up I got the mails I have left on the server.
Started to created folders and tested to send a test to my self but it didn't work I get an error I just canä't figure out.
The info I got about setting it up is the name of the servers, but that's it.

Code: Select all
An error occured while sending mail. The mail server responded: <xxx.xx@xx.xx>:
Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table. Please check the message recipient and try again.

I tried to set the 'Security and Authentication' by setting the user name, but that didn't help either.

Anyone knows what I forgot to do?

Perhaps their mail server doesn't like the dot /full stop/ period in the first part of the address.

Does it work if you send the mail to "xxx.xx"@xx.xx instead?

I'll try it, but they migrated the email address from the old ISP so they should be able to handle it.

I'll be back with an answer...

UPDATE: same error occurs whereever I write the "new" address
maybe I do that in the wrong place or it just strips the quotes
