Does anyone have experience with OGLE and playing different region DVDs?

I want to know because I wish to buy some DVDs from the UK and play them here in the US. These DVDs will never be released in the US.

I have heard something about computer dvd burners being hard coded to only allow region changes so many times before they are permanantly set. You might want to check into this first.

You heard quite correctly. This can be changed by finding a new version of the BIOS on the net and flashing your DVD drive. However this is risky, and some forms of BIOS cannot be changed to work without locking. I will have to try and see if OGLE switches my region. I have a Matsushita and I am pretty sure I can flash my BIOS.

So am I to assume no-one has experience of this, is my only choice to buy the DVD and take the risk on it not working. So it seems. Even then suppose my new computer cannot play the DVD or the BIOS flashed. Darned unfair if you ask me. Maybe I should sue the RIAA for mental suffering and anguish.
