Mozilla Mail

Postby Calum » Sun Aug 17, 2003 5:22 am

when i start mozilla using "mozilla" and select mozilla mail from the "window" menu, it starts and works fine, however if i try to start mozilla mail by typing "mozilla -mail", i get
The file /content/messenger.xul cannot be found. Please check the location and try again <OK>
Any idea why?
i suppose the obvious solution would be to touch and chmod 777 the relevant file, but i'd rather know what's going on to be honest.

Wierd, it's works fine for me with no errors. I'm using the stock Mozilla that comes with RH9 (well, maybe newer if it has ever been part of the redhat updates). BTW, did you check the "noteedit" thread?

i found out the issue. it has something to do with runmozilla.sh which apparently gets confused if you try to run mozilla, netscape or mozilla firebird (but not galeon or beonex oddly) and one of the other browsers (netscape, mozilla or firebird) is already running. I was running firebird at the time, tried to run "mozilla -mail" and instead it tried to run MozillaFirebird -mail, which is not an option since there is no client (it being available separately as thunderbird) in firebird.

closed firebird and it now works a treat. i am now thinking of using beonex instead, it's identical to mozilla 1.21 except it doesn't have this confusing issue to contend with.

no i haven't looked at the noteedit thread yet however i will away there now...
