Hey, does anyone have any idea how to fit these things to the cabling?

Do you plug an RJ45 into the back of the socket, or do you crimp the cables onto the back?

Also is a specialist crimping tool required, or will a standard electronic engineers type crimp tool do it?

I have never actually used one of these sockets, so I am unsure on the issue.

What kind of wall jack do you have? Can you find a description of it on the web somewhere? I have used the wall plates and the RJ45 modules snap into it but there are several different types. You might ask the people where you purchased the wall plates (unless they were already installed).

These are the ones I plan to buy. I'm not sure if they are the same as you have used.

I think contacting the store is a good idea and i'll do that tomorrow lunchtime. But, if looking at that link gives you a clue please tell me anyway

Those are the mounting plates that secure the modules. The modules will more than likely be a separate purchase. You lay unstripped wires in the little slots on the back of the module. You then put the cap on it which pushes the wires further down in the slots, cuts the sheath and makes a connection. Really easy and pretty slick. I got them at home. Didn't want to buy a crimping tool to make a long cable. This was cheaper for me. Plus it really looks clean when you're done.
