Problems adding a new item to the Main Menu

Postby edwardsen35 » Fri Dec 12, 2003 1:48 pm

I'm running Gnome and I downloaded and installed Real Player. I wanted to add a Real Player icon to the Sound & Video folder in the main menu. I right clicked on the Sound & Video folder, went down to "Entire Menu" and over to "Add new item to this menu." When I filled the form out and hit ok I got an error message that said:
Code: Select all
Cannot save menu item to disk

Details: Error writing file 'applications:/Multimedia/RealPlayer.desktop': Unsupported operation

Why did I get this error message? Is it because this feature hasn't been added yet?

However, I was able to add an icon by writing a configuration file in /usr/share/applications and linking it to /var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/Multimedia.
