remote X connection dealy

Void, on your type for have a remote X dealy on red hat you were assuming one who reads it is using the gnome login manager. What if i use the kde login manager, where would i set it up to allow remote connections for that?


oh... and while im here, i should ask if anyone knows a good floppy distro with X on it... and pcmcia utils with network support... (so i can boot my laptop on a floppy and then login to my desktop comps X session... basically a diskless terminal )

What you probably want to do is go through the real LTS setup so your floppy will do nothing more than bootstrap from your server. With this setup your client will NFS mount all of it's file systems from your server. X will be started from the NFS share and then connect to your XDM/KDM/GDM (whichever you want to use).

As far as XDMCP using KDM I would imagine you would enable it in your "kdmrc". You'll probably find this file in /etc/X11/xdm or /etc/kde/kdm. Not sure where Slack puts it but you'll find it somewhere. In mine there is a section called "[Xdmcp]" with "Enable=False". My guess would be that changing it to "True" would allow you to do the same thing that you would get by following my instructions for GDM. You might also want "Port=177". Of course you'll need to restart kdm after making a change.

MuLinux has a great X server extension disk.

NetBSD is pretty damn small.

i may try netbsd. or possibly slackware. I realized that Legacy Doom doesnt work on my comp and that is what i want to play on my laptop. and i also will prolly want to take it places.

NetBSD and slack should also be fine with it.
