Basically what I am asking is are you doing this just for a learning experience or is there a specific need that you have? If this is just for a learning experience then press on. If you are doing this for a specific need then there are probably already ways to do what you want to do. That's why I am asking...

The plan was to kill two birds with one stone.

I wanted to learn

And i wanted to make a relaying program kind of thing.

pretty much whatever is on the port (eg i set the relay to listen on port 80 and goto this site) and then when your site replys to the relays reqest the relay sends that to the client.

Oh, you mean Squid? :) As a side note I made a couple of slight modifications to the client/server example, and added another example:

i dont want somthing like squid but somthing more like iptables but it only forwards to one ip, but this has to be small and i can compile it on dos. I think i can work it out myself anyways.

Do you have TCP/IP configured and a socket library for DOS? If I knew you wanted this for DOS I wouldn't have helped you. :)

it was for any platform, mainly Linux but i want it small. But i could use it on DOS. or whatever if i needed.

Well without an example of the type of task you want to accomplish there isn't much incentive to go on from here. In fact it's not really possible.

But the question I have been trying to get answered is.. "doing what?!?". The example really doesn't actually do much.

Basicly i want somthing that does what squid does, but smaller and more portable. And simple, it doesnt use the normal proxy protocols.
