Stupid Google Tricks

Postby Void Main » Tue Feb 17, 2004 8:53 pm

Google never ceases to amaze me. I seem to stumble onto new useful tricks every day. These may be old news to many of you but today I discovered (by accident) that Google has a built in calculator that can do complex math as well as convert units. Some examples:

Math Examples:
10 + 10 * 2
10^27
sqrt(-1)

Conversions examples:
27 quarts in gallons
27 quarts in imperial gallons
1 light year in miles
100 light years in micrometers

More about calculator (as well as other cool tricks)

Anyone have any other cool Google tricks?

Hi Void Main,

Not to minimize Google or anything like that, but doesn't it look like they just put a front end on the Linux/UNIX utilities units and bc?

And then you can search for "French military victories" and get the response:

Did you mean "French military defeats?"

It took two days for the first reply to my post, and when it comes two people replied at exactly the same minute. What are the odds? The lottery in my state is up to over $200M and I got my 5 bucks worth. Hopefully this is a sign! :)
