i FINALLY got a laptop, which i bought for cheap cos the previous owner couldnt get it to work.



On boot it displays "101-bios error"

the thing is a compaq lte elite 4/40cx i eventually wanan get linux on this thing. like a mobile showcase of how great linux is :D

If you can find out what motherboard it is, just head to their website and get the latest version of the bios for that board. Reflash it as they say, and you should be good to go. Be very careful.

There are two 101 entries in the above list. You will no be happy with the corrective action of either. Might try taking it apart and reseating everything but I think it might be useful as a door stop.

Doogee, I have a Compaq laptop for work and I just realize I get that same error periodically. In fact I just got it. It happens to me when I plug the laptop into the docking station and it must not make a good connection. If I unhook it and hook it back up once or twice it usually solves the problem. I guess what I am getting at is maybe you can get lucky and find some sort of short on a plug somewhere (in my case it would be that large plug in the back that looks a little like a mini SCSI connector).
