It makes for an easy upgradable system. It makes for an easy verifiable system.

But you are running a stock KDE installed in different locations so you'll likely need to find the directory where your menu shortcuts go and create one where you want it. Then include it in your RPM. In fact look at the krusader spec file from one of the other distros. It should have a menu file.


Cool info thanks, but this would pretty much defeat my idea of creating rpms which don't exist yet and make them available for other people to download and install, wouldn't it?

I had a friend of mine testing the krusader rpm package I compiled on a fc1 system running KDE 3.1.4 and on a fc1 system running a stock KDE 3.2.1
It installed on both systems.
