Redhat 7.3 - Void's DNS / DHCP tute

Postby deepeyes » Wed May 19, 2004 1:13 am

Hi Void and others, I am trying to help a friend by building him a DNS / DHCP server on an old old machine like pentium 100, 64 meg. Therefore I need to use an older distro like RH 7.3, everything works fine, it alocates ip adresses but.......no host names. There are no *.jnl files in the /var/named/ directory.

I am about to see if RH 8.0 will load up on this machine as it is frustrating and I wonder if RH 7.3 can even do this? As I said everything else works well as per your tute.

I have loaded the lastest bind packages from the RH Updates FTP server and also the last kernel.

It's the same old thing......trying to help someone, and you end up spending days on it!

Thanks

Answered my own question again.

OK

You need to have a dhcp-3 rpm, dhcp-2 doesn't work,if you go to rpm bone they have some for all distro's including 6.x

It's all working fine, now it's sleep time.
