FC2 mdmpd

Postby dishawjp » Sun May 23, 2004 5:08 pm

Hi All,

Just me again. I've been poking around in my /var/log/messages and came across the following:

Code: Select all
[root@eunix root]# more /var/log/messages | grep mdmpd
May 22 16:21:00 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 22 16:29:58 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 12:35:45 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 12:47:35 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 13:03:23 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 13:13:09 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 13:39:25 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 14:56:11 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 15:31:18 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
May 23 18:18:38 eunix mdmpd: mdmpd failed
[root@eunix root]#

I've Googled this a bit and I seem to have company on this one, but I haven't seen any answers to questions posed. It is a service and I can shut it down but hte only description I can find about it is "multipath device monitoring and management" whatever that means.

Should I just disable and forget it, or is this worth pursuing and fixing?

TIA,

Do you have any RAID arrays? If not, remove it:

# rpm -e mdadm

Thanks Void,

It's deleted!

You'd think that there would have been some information on what it was... no man listing, no whatis, just that cryptic entry on the services configuration tool.

Thanks again!
