identd issues on FC2?

Postby ZiaTioN » Fri Jan 14, 2005 11:57 pm

I am trying to setup kVirc on my system and was having issues connecting so I realized I had identd issues and went out and grabbed oidentd. I installed via rpm from dag and now I am having issues getting KVirc to chat with oidentd.

I still am unable to connect to any irc server using KVirc (or any other irc client for that matter). I get a Socket_Error error message and that is it. I do run a private network and have enabled port forwarding on port 113 towards my server running oidentd and still no go. I am not too familiar with oidentd so I am not even sure if I am starting it with the right options or what not.

Anyone have any experience with oidentd or any other identd deamon that you have used to connect to irc with? Preferably from behind a NAT/Firewall router.

Heh heh, I never have and doubt I ever will and I've been on the net since the early days. It's just something I never got into, and my past experiences with ident/identd have left me wondering why it ever existed.
