Ximian's Exchange Connector

Postby eckat » Mon Feb 07, 2005 9:56 am

Hello everyone,

so I know this is a burning discussion on several boards for quite some time already. Especially here at Novell who is on duty in that case: http://forums.novell.com/group/novell.support.ximian.connector/readerNoFrame.tpt/@thread@265@F@10@D-,D@NONE+272+246/@article@246

Unfortunately my company is running exchange too. I use FC3 here on my notebook which is my central working place and accessing OWA through a webbrowser just doesn't make it. A few weeks ago the windows staff that is resonsible for inhouse IT upgraded from exchange 2000 to 2003 and my evolution connector stopped working. This is a well known issue and I am just curious if anyone found a workaround or another solution for this.

Respectfully yours,
Eckat

Yes, I have been using it for over a year now and it is working just fine (a few minor bugs but nothing drastic). There was a period where I had this problem and created my own custom RPMs for evolution-connector from CVS where the problem was corrected (see this thread (now out of date)). The current connector RPMS for Fedora Core 3 seem to be working just fine though. I am currently running Fedora Core 3 with these evolution RPMS:

evolution-2.0.2-3
evolution-connector-2.0.2-1
evolution-data-server-1.0.2-3

On the "Receiving Mail" tab I have:

Exchange Server: yourowaserver.yourdomain.com
Windows Username: youruserid@yourdomain.com

Use SSL: Always

On the "Receiving Options" tab I have:
Mailbox name: youruserid
OWA path: /exchange

That should be it, it "should" work. I have used it with 2000 and 2003. We can't get GAL to work but LDAP connections work just as well (or better) than GAL.

Thanks for the reply Void Main.

The versions I am currently working with are:
evolution-data-server-1.0.2-3
evolution-2.0.2-3
evolution-connector-2.0.3-1

The connector is a higher version, than the one you use and not the original FC3 one. A few days ago I was searching around the web desperatly looking for some hints or perhaps some newer connector release. I found this one but got same connection failures:Could not connect to server <OWAIPaddress>: Network error

I've just tried the settings you suggested. I am sure I tested them before but I just gave it another go. Still no luck. I am more and more in the oppinion that there is something wrong with the exchange servers config. Maybe some security thing that blocks it.

I will just delay this. Thanks so far. Hopefully there will be an official statement of Novells developers on their boards soon.
