Re: What do you guys think of FlatPackages?
I am using Snap on Ubuntu. It's super convenient, and I do like it. My only complaint, for snap specifically, is that it clutters up `df` output since each snap package is a virtual disk. I have not heard of Flat Packages. It's a good idea though. Self contained packages means you dont have weird li...

Configuration Management and other Automation
Do you use any configuration management systems like Chef or Puppet? I am getting deeper into Chef these days helping a company build out a better DevOps and CI pipeline. Chef is all I really know though. I am curious what other people are using. I kinda looked at Puppet 4 years ago and decided Chef...

Void's Forums Appreciation
The Internet bums me out. It's all junk food websites and newsletter signups and data collection and generally bad but then I see that this forum and website are still kicking it and live. Reminds me of the good ole bad wild west days of the Internet :) It's like a breath of fresh air lol Thank you ...

Wow, kde plasma is very nice. Definitely better than Gnome 3
It even ran well with compiz in a virtual machine! I'll try to use it for a week or so at the office.

I have been using XFCE for a while now and really dig it. I haven't used KDE in probably 6 years!

Re: F17 -> F18 thru fedup
Sorry, that was kind of ranty! I should clarify that I was not attempting to upgrade from Fedora 17.
How did the upgrade go from 17 to 18?

Re: F17 -> F18 thru fedup
I tried to install Fedora 18. Couldn't get the partition manager in the installation to actually allow me to create custom partitions. I found the new installer to be terribly unusable and buggy. I ended up allowing Fedora to make my partitions for me and finally got it installed. It could not detec...

Re: Server management/tracking software?
I have checked out TeamPass and it's a really nice self hosted password manager. It has some solid permissions management. However, the UI is terribly slow and cumbersome. I would use it were it not for the crap UI. The other options are desktop applications, and while we could distribute a shared p...

Re: Server management/tracking software?
Oh, I haven't really had a chance to explore them yet. I have been really sick with the flu! I am finally feeling better though, so I will definitely take a look at these. I use KeePassX to manage my passwords and really like it. There is a password expiration that will remind you to keep your passw...
