This is the reason Ubuntu is so popular, even with old skool Debian users.

The releases are every 6 months, and the updates are very regular.

Open Moko

Havn't seen any reference to http://www.openmoko.org/ here. Seen you guys talk about the iPhone a little, so I thought I'd bring up the Open Moko Project. Only relation being Mobile phones. (Well, Open Moko is an OS, not a phone itself). For those interested in buying an Open mobile phone, see the N...

First time I've read about this new flavour. Sounds great tbh. It's just, how many forks does one Distro need, lol. But, more interestingly, Shuttleworth also talked of a new ultra-free version of Ubuntu that can be expected alongside Gutsy Gibbon. The new "flavour" of Ubuntu will take "an ultra-ort...

Hmm, I think you're looking at it all wrong. I don't see any major changes in the pipelines for Ubuntu. Linspire will not change much, and neither will Ubuntu. Rather, Ubuntu users will get the choice of being able to install CNR (nasty ugly thing I know, but for users who really want it, it's there...

Just a note, you seemed to do a long-winded way of changing root's password.

I simply ran "sudo passwd root" to set my root password.

I have no idea why it isnt working. It compiles a module with my kernel source, but then insists its incorrect or something. Headers are already installed, and so is the source. urpmi wanted to install an old source for some reason (2.4) :| when uname clearly shows im using 2.6.8. [root]# urpmi kern...

nVidia with SMP Kernel

I have been installing nVidia drivers for a long time, and they always worked fine . Now I am using Mandrake 10.1, with a SMP kernel (Im on a dual-processor pc, so mdk automatically gives me this smp kernel). During installation of the nVidia drivers it gives me an error, telling me there is no prec...

May i recommend Mandrake 9.2?

Its looks smart, and works well :D hehe

If you're looking for MDK this is the best version to date.

Mandrake 10community is not good for a home users, more for testers and developers - wait for Mandrake 10 Official Release, which should be around May.

Point to DNS to your IP in the domain's CP.
Setup a DNS Server in Linux.
