In as far as it goes, this is the only one I have found even slightly comfortable and usable at the same time. however I have never used it on a computer and it currently sits in my work draw uncharged.

Your USB port might be wearing out. Every time you connect you shave a tiny amount of metal way. If it is a port you use a lot for connecting and disconnecting this might be a warning to get a hub. Start logging everytime yoy connect a device and see if you start to see errors happening more often. ...

Don't mind me. I had to spend yesterday on M$ support and my mind is a mess. They really don't know what they are doing over there. Their fancy recovery tools and backups don't work and can't be made to work. Arrghh. Anyway the problem will be sorted by buying new pieces of equipment that I can use....

I have a laptop running Live Knoppix 3.3. Internet connection. No installation can happen (nor reinstallation :) ) Only hardisk filesystems availbale proprietary and unwrittable. Other networked computer cannot see laptop, and as FS is unwrittable this does not help. CD-drive is in use for Live CD, ...
