ok ok... that wasnt the problem. It cant connect to db after i fixed the permissions to allow mor to connect to phpbb. It was set to not be able to connect from any host. But i fixed that and it still says it cant connect to the database

ah, i recalled that you prefer postgresql and thats why i was trying it instead of mysql..... and i thought i was doing it to miss fighting with mysql....

....back to trying to get it to work with mysql.... i'll be back ;)

PHP vs Postgresql

i want to change that to php + postgresql.

I am trying to install phpbb, and i have postgresql 7.* and some sort of php installed. Now when i try installing phpbb it says that php doesnt like postgresql. Is there some package i must install to do this?
Its on slackware

*hisssssss* i wrote an article about mapping the windows keys on my website that was competeing withing voids site for about 2 minutes.. (around when this site first started). Its much more fun making them email bill gates a letter explaining why hes recieving it when you accidentally hit the window...

well i tried audacity and havent gotten it installed yet as a result of not having "libiconv.so.2" which i cant find. But i used cutmp3 to nicely cut clips out of pulp fiction to play when starting and exiting KDE

Editing sound samples

i need a program that can take out a short clip of a song (MP3). Any recommendations?
I shall begin my quest at freshmeat as always, just wonderin if theres any you prefer.

the output from netstat -a | grep mysql shows this as the only mysql process:
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 345 /var/run/mysql/mysql.sock

oops i must have edited since you posted. I did upgrade and apache is working fine. But i do get "phpBB : Critical Error Could not connect to the database" when i try to use MySQL. What permissions should i set for the mysql user? I created a user and a database ("phpbb") in mysql through webmin. I'...

i upgraded apache to 1.3.24 and my mysql and php are the proper version.

now... the question about the mysql user permissions posted above?

erm... for a user of mysql, what should i set their permissions as? Or do i just set no permissions, and then for the phpbb database i let them have all permissions?
I'm using webmin 1 to configure mysql.
