I was using top before to check out the programs using the most... but its not until you mentioned swap that i looked and noticed... Kubuntu has stopped mounting my swap partition on bootup. I think its automatic conversion of device entries to UUID entries in fstab might be the cause. I've only got...

I switched from xmms because it took an incredible time for my playlist to show all the id3tag information. Amarok uses a database for all that jazz, which also allows me to quickly search my collection.

You can mount the share to a specific folder with # mount -t smbfs \\xphost\folder /mnt/xp
and then use rsync to synchronize the your folder on FC6 to /mnt/xp.

...not sure if my slashes go the right way for smb shares?

Are you behind a firewall? Are you downloading something that has lots of peers/seeders? I use ktorrent. I dont have anything set on my router, but i use UPnP. The usual case for long stalls is that I am trying to download something that has too few peers. Also, did you change the default maximum co...

I made an image of the data, used strings on it to find that it looks like all the data should be there (or at least quite a bit). I'm not really sure what to do next to try to recover the data, its from a 1GB USB key, so it should have been FAT32, but as i've said that wont work to mount it. I've g...

usb key filesystem

I've got a USB key here that worked one second, then the partition table was gone the next time it was put into a computer. The computers at my school have a habit of erasing the partition table but leaving the filesystem fine, so i tried recreating a fat32 partition, but it still doesnt mount. Is t...
