I had PacBell/SBC/SBC Yahoo!/AT&T for about six years, and I know what you are going through. After all of those mergers, I guess that they decided to ditch anyone who didn't succumb to the M$ era of point-and-click programming. When I first moved to California, and SBC was good old PacBell, it was ...

If i want to do an upgrade, the most "secure" way to do that would be by DVD's, right? because if I do upgrade through FTP and the net goes down that would screw things up enough to not be able to restart the system... or? Hi guys...been away for a bit with medical problems with the old bum back. B...

Thanks. I remember reading somewhere that I would have to configure internal DNS to get to it from inside the network. If I resolved internal DNS to that address, what would happen to virtual hosts? Would I still be able to run them on the Apache server on this machine? I am kind of new to this stuf...

The URL is: http://kegdaddy.kicks-ass.net I tried to set Apache to listen to another port (85, 666, 777...tried a few), but I got the same result. I don't think my ISP (SBC) is blocking port 80 or 8080 because it was working before I upgraded to FC4. During the install, I set it so that there is no ...

Apache through firewall help

I just recently upgraded my system to FC4 and I am having some problems getting apache to pass through my network's firewall. I am using a Linksys BEFSX41 router, with my apache box set up to 192.168.1.100. Locally, I can view the apache start page, but when I hook it up through dyndns.org, it just ...

I play Divx movies in both Xine and Mplayer all of the time. You just need the codecs. Add this to /etc/apt/sources.list (if you are running FC 3):

http://apt.sw.be fedora/3/en/i386/dag pkglist

$ apt-get update
$ apt-cache search divx4linux

Install anything you want.

Nvidia Linux Drivers help

I just installed the latest versions of the Nvidia Linux drivers on my Fedora Core 1 box. I followed all of the instructions on thier README, and set everything up accordingly, but it takes like 15 minutes for the driver to load and get me to the login prompt. Is this normal or is there a workaround...

You can try out apollon . It connects to kazaa, gnutella, and openFT networks. If you are going to install it using *.rpm, make sure that you download all of the plugins on the page, and add /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf . Install it using rpm -Uvh apollon-xxx.xxx.rpm --nodeps. Then, as root, ru...
