I like the idea of making you front page look like a terminal, I don't think RH would complain, you aren't using their name and trying to make money off of their products and work, at least without giving credit where its due.

Well just to update. I burned Slack again. Again no recognition in the same PII233. Now I tried swapping CDROMs, and it gives me incompatable type when I try to install my wonderful never lets me down TEAC CDW45, which burns great, but slow. So I created a basic kernel bare.i on a floppy, pulled the...

I heard briefly on the radio that there was a world wide increase of virus transimissions last night that slowed the net down considerably, whilst I doubt most news cast statements about technology and the internet, maybe this was related.

Did anyone else hear this?

If it does not work show him an easier distro. There is no real reason why Slackware will not work for him any less than another distribution. it's just that Slackware actually requires you understand a little of what you are doing, whereas MDK and RH don't. The default setup will not be incredibly ...

I like windows. my favorite windows program is KDE, Gnome looks a little better, but KDE just feels more functional. Enlightemment is apparently good, and I want to try out some of the smaller Windowing programs. I have also used the basic windows of the X11 GUI, my goodness that is ugly. Tell your ...

Alt-TAB does work for me, if your in writer it switches the documents. If you have no documents open in a program, then having it open is a waste of resources and will slow your system down. Especially as what will happen is it will get paged to the swap file, which means you'll have to wait for it ...

What ya using it for? I tried 7.3 on a similar spec, and the gui did install when I had custom trimmed it down, but dog slow (and only Gnome). If you want a gui look into the other options, avoid gnome and KDE. I have RH min install 8.0 on it at the moment, but I don't use it for anything,

Hi, 1. As far as I know the only way to do it at the moment is via the windows menus option, using the mouse. 2. I don't really understand why you would want this. I have seen this in other word processors, and I always thought it was a bug. It sure as hell was an inconvenience to me. I would recomm...

Out of the Box - dual proc

Okay, does anyone have any experience with dual processor machines? Ideally I do not want to get into compiling an SMP kernel at this stage. My question is which distros support this out of the box, and which have... issues. All the major distros seem to support it, but Mandrake does not seem to Out...
