Actually I thought about it. I need to learn to use GCC, or some other compiler, and actually get into using the programing facilities in Linux. Maybe I will make one myself. My requirement is for basic tick tick time. I need the basic 1 beat per second at this learner stage, and I will need to impr...

Metronome tick tick tick tick

Does anyone have a prefered application for a metronome that can output tuning notes? I have found several but would like some personal accounts, if any. Most of the ones out there seem to be in very early stages or require lots of strange sound packages made by other third parties. If no-one has th...

Browse your local second hand book store for a copy of the following. Just For Fun It's not that useful but if your have a few hours and a second hand copy it's worth the read - merely for certain comments, such as 'your Mac is crap', and 'I'm the best in the world at what I do, and he is good at ma...

Once again you show yourself a font of good knowledge. It no longer says my OS is a virus. So is making a change to the boot sector all a bios virus/worm can do?

I was reading their site a while ago. It seems they were making nice progress until they let the bean counters take charge. Decisions to 'MAXIMIZE PROFIT' seem to have been made - bloody MBAs. It seems most of their current troubles stem from some bad decisions in the last couple of years. Made by p...

Okay I think it may be a bad burn. The CD would not read for boot up in any drive I tried on any machine, I even brought out my 32x IBM cdrom that I have never used, and that did not help. Maybe I'll try another burn, and maybe I'll try gentoo or something instead.

I am thinking it's the boot loader. Just to get you up to date. MD 9.0 uses Lilo as default and RH 8.0 uses Grub as default. You, of course, have the choice as to which one you use :D which is one of the many wonderful benefits I have found since starting using GNU/Linux not quite a year ago. I have...

My normal machine can boot from this CD. This other machine can boot from CD for MD and RH, but it does not work with Slack. However the floppy disk option is ... well not an option, the principle reason being, there is not a floppy drive. I could put the one from my current system in it, but as it ...

I am contemplating whether it is because it is not an M$ system myself. I am actually using MD 9.0, and it is installed and has no probs. yet. My curiosity is more why does it do it in MD and not RH. I am also wondering if I made a mistake in install and put it not in the MBR but at sector one, coul...

I'm wondering that myself. I just seems strange that it will boot MD and RH from CD and Peanut Linux even, but not slack (and yet if I look at the CD on the same computer using MD or RH it has no probs. seeing it).

Not detecting Slack.

I download the slackware 8.1 CD. When I load it into my current system it detects the CD, and if I put it into any CD drive on my computers I can read the CD, but my PII233 cannot detect it (It detected MD and RH). Is it possible this is just a bad download, considering I can boot from it in from an...

Mandrake a virus?

So I just removed RH8.0 from my webserver to be and installed mandrake 9.0. When it boots up I get a load of beeps and a big red screen appears that says Operating System unrecognised and to go to antivirus.com. I think I can remove it by turning off the virus check in the bios. I am just curious if...

So I just signed up to this forum - why did I do that? Looking at the subjects I'm kind of guessing this would be a place to discuss issues on specific distros ... right? Or do you have other plans for world domination. 'What are we going to do tommorrow Brain' 'Well Pinky, we're going to TAKE OVER ...
