nForce driver will not install

Post by Refalm » Thu Feb 05, 2004 2:56 pm

I downloaded the .tar.gz, and I tried to compile it:

Code: Select all

The weirdest thing though, is that I have kernel 2.6.2, and not 2.4.22 :?

I did do a

Code: Select all

root@niekenjens:/lib/modules# ln -s 2.6.2 2.4.22
because the 2.6.2 kernel was installed, and the modules for 2.6.2 where there...

Anything I forgot to select in xconfig or forgot to install (i selected /dev/agppart and the nForce 2 driver in xconfig)?

Uh, I don't think you will get modules designed for 2.4 to work with 2.6. Then again this might help:

Indeed, that's why I did
root@niekenjens /lib/modules # ln -s 2.4.22 2.6.2

But thanks for the link, I seriously couldn't find it on Google. I'll try it out when I get home.

But I don't think linking the directory is the answer. What I meant by "I don't think it's going to work" is because I would assume that 2.6 modules would actually be different than 2.4 modules. Sort of like you can use Windows 3.1 device drivers with Windows XP. But again, I don't know this to be a fact.

They are different.
